The Visionary Horse: The Art of Yaheya Pasha
Yaheya Pasha’s work captures the spontaneity and muscle tension of the horse through a lens of personal fantasia. Drawing on her heritage of Indian horsemanship—spanning generations of polo players and riders—and her education at Central Saint Martins (BA Hons), she marries three-dimensional elements with bold, linear shapes to create a visual feast of vibrant movement.
A Foundation in Pure Line Guided by the mentorship of the renowned Howard Tangye, Yaheya developed a mastery of the “uninterrupted line.” For her, drawing is the essential foundation—a method of observing and understanding the effervescent energy of a horse in motion. Each piece begins with this purity of line before being transformed by layers of audacious colour.
Audacious Colour & Expressionism Her palette does not shy away from the dramatic: sunset orange-reds, violet blues, and deep turquoise are contrasted against porcelain whites and silvery greys. While her style is definitively Expressionistic, her fearless application of colour draws inspiration from Fauvism, the dreamlike works of Mikhail Vrubel, and the dynamic energy of Manga Anime.
A Global Legacy Today, Yaheya’s equestrian work is held in private collections worldwide, including the UK, USA, UAE, Germany, and Australia. Every painting is an adventurous journey—a harmonious balance of technical skill and emotional spontaneity.
